This is a very fine piece, and I'm glad to seem some serious philosophy starting to enter pagan thinking. There are an increasing number of philosophers writing on pagan topics, some quite openly. See recent articles by Palmqvist and Parsons.

I would pin these dualisms and this anti-worldly transcendence on Christianity, not Platonism. Platonism, at least from Plato to Iamblichus, is pagan. And Platonism is monism, not dualism. Christianity distorted Platonism. At the end of the pagan world, Platonists like Proclus and Damascius have become Christianized. But you're right that what we know as Platonism is the Christian distortion.
